What is Mote Money?
Mote Money is a free browser extension that helps you get the most out of your credit cards every time you shop online. Go about your typical shopping. When you are ready to checkout, Mote reviews your purchase to give you the best outcome. Mote recommends which of your cards provide you with the most savings or the most rewards. You have total control over what card to use but you can have confidence that Mote is looking out for you.
How did Mote Money get started?
Mote Money was started after Founder, Matt Albrecht had a poor experience with a major credit issuer resulting in a $759 interest fee all because bill alerts were not offered. He realized credit card companies are incentivized to keep things confusing. Between interest fees and late fees, credit card companies pull in nearly $150 billion in revenue each year. While staring down at the unnecessary fee it became evident that an independent service to support consumers with their credit cards was worth pursuing. The platform would be a smart wallet for a consumer’s credit cards and Mote Money was born with the mission to help consumers keep more money in their pockets.
How do I use Mote Money?
Once Mote has been installed in your browser, (see The Basics: Getting Started) You simply shop online and when you are ready to check out, Mote Money’s algorithm will recommend the best card to use. Recommendations will appear on the check-out page and you have total control of what card you choose.
How do I know if Mote Money is working?
Mote Money will only appear when you are ready to check out while shopping online. However, you can always access Mote Money by clicking the Mote Money logo in your extension manager (see The Basics: Getting Started) for setup.
What About Security?
The security of your information is deeply important to us. The best security policy is to minimize the collection of that information altogether. With that principal in mind Mote Money does not collect credit card account data (more on this in our privacy policy). We also do not sell your personal information or share it with unaffiliated third parties.
We have a team dedicated to protecting your information and have put in place physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards.
These measures include limiting access, using encryption, testing for vulnerabilities, advanced malware detection, employing pseudonymization and anonymization techniques, and more.
Though we hate to say it, despite our efforts, we can’t guarantee that user information will not be accessed, viewed, disclosed, altered, or destroyed as a result of a breach of any of our safeguards. You provide us with information at your own risk.
